The Ultimate Hurley Wetsuit Guide
Wetsuits – the technical garment designed for the cold water surfer — are forever evolving in materials and design.

Types of Wetsuits

In essence, the wetsuit is a practical item that allows surfers to surf for longer thanks to the added protection from the elements. And, of course, there’s a wetsuit for different water temps, like:

  • Steamers: Designed for frigid water temps and winter surfers who need to stay insanely warm to beat the chill. Thick neoprene delivers that insulated feel to keep you toasty while out on the water.
  • Springsuits: Optimal for more temperate climates – less thick neoprene means water trapped inside your suit won’t get as warm, helping you to stay a little cooler as you carve up the breaks.
Steamers and springsuits also come in a variety of lengths, with most steamers being full length (arms and legs). Springsuits can come in a variety of cuts, including full length and half leg or half arm styles, which are better suited for hotter weather.

But why do some cost more than others? What’s the big deal with flexibility? And amongst the scores of black suits on white backgrounds plastered all over the web, which one is going to function best for what I need it for?
